  • 1/2 Baguette
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
  • 300 g Cavatappi Macaroni
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth
  • 3 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp Water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Thinly slice the onions and sauté in a skillet with olive oil over medium heat for about 30–40 minutes until caramelized, adding beef broth if they stick.
  3. In the same skillet, prepare béchamel sauce by whisking flour into melted butter, then gradually add heavy cream until thickened. Stir in two-thirds of the caramelized onions.
  4. Cook cavatappi macaroni until just under al dente. Combine with the béchamel mixture.
  5. Transfer to a baking dish, layer remaining onions on top, and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  6. Bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
