  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons apple butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a saucepan, combine diced apples, apple butter, sugar, water, lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Cook over medium heat until apples soften.
  2. Make the Dough: Mix bread flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in one bowl. In another bowl, combine milk, cream, egg, and tangzhong. Knead together until smooth.
  3. Let it Rise: Cover dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread cinnamon-sugar mixture and apple filling. Roll tightly and cut into pieces. Let them rise again in a greased dish.
